Updating an API code for an existing experience

Hub - Help Center Updated

If an API code changes on your side, tell us — otherwise the connection breaks. A stale code is a common cause of wrong prices, missing availability and failed bookings, so send the new one as soon as it changes.

Before you start

  • Have the Headout Experience ID for each affected experience.
  • Have the new API code for each one.
  • Know the API platform the codes belong to.

Step 1 — Open the request form

  • Click Help in the left-hand menu of Hub. This signs you into the Help Centre.
  • Click Submit a request.
  • Choose API and integration.

Step 2 — Select the issue

Under “Select the specific issue you need help with”, choose Update API Code for existing experience.

Step 3 — Fill in the fields

You'll be asked for:

  • Please enter Headout Experience ID — required.
  • Add API Code for your experience — required. For several codes, enter them separately against each Headout Experience ID, comma separated.
  • API Platform — required.

Add a Subject naming the experience, and use Description to say when the change takes effect and whether the old code still works in the meantime. Click Submit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my code needs updating?
Usually your platform tells you, or you'll see symptoms first — an experience showing as unavailable, prices that don't match, or bookings failing. If any of those appear right after a change on your side, the code is the likely cause.

Should I stop sales while the code is updated?
If the old code has already stopped working, yes — bookings could fail and leave guests without tickets. Close the affected slots until it's connected, then reopen them. See Managing availability and inventory.

Can I update several codes at once?
Yes. Enter them separately against each Experience ID, comma separated, so each code stays paired with the right experience.

My platform hasn't changed, only the code.
Then this is the right option — enter the same platform name with the new code. Use Report shifting to a different API platform only when you're moving to a different platform.

Do I need to update anything on Hub too?
No. Once the code is updated, availability and pricing continue to flow from your platform.

What if I'm not sure which code Headout currently holds?
Say so in the Description. Our automation team can check what's configured and confirm before changing it.
